Keep the movement
while the body waits.
An injured athlete loses two things. Strength, from disuse. And confidence in the movement that hurt them. Physical therapy handles the tissue. Ghost Reps handles the brain’s model of the movement while the body waits.
Start trainingWhat it rests on
strength gained from imagined contractions alone, with no change in muscle size.
Ranganathan et al., 2004
the strength loss under four weeks of casting, for the group doing mental imagery versus nothing.
Clark et al., 2014
of reinjury after ACL surgery predicts return-to-sport failure better than measured quad strength does.
Return-to-sport literature
The mechanism is cortical drive, not muscle growth. Imagined movement activates motor cortex, supplementary motor area, and premotor cortex close to the way real movement does. The gains come from the software.
Seven movements, not seven injuries
Content is built per movement pattern. An injury is just a map to the movements it threatens, which is why seven modules cover every common soccer injury.
| Injury | Movements trained |
|---|---|
| ACL tear | Plant, Cut, Decelerate, Land |
| MCL sprain | Cut, Plant, Land |
| Meniscus | Plant, Cut, Decelerate |
| Hamstring strain | Sprint, Strike |
| Ankle sprain, lateral | Cut, Land, Plant |
| Groin / adductor strain | Strike, Cut, Sprint |
| Calf / Achilles | Push, Sprint |
Twelve to fifteen minutes
- 1SettleSixty seconds of paced breathing to a calm, focused state. Not sleep.
- 2PrimeName the movement. Put you back on your actual pitch, in your actual kit.
- 3RehearseReal-time reps. Never sped up, never in slow motion.
- 4LoadMaximal imagined effort. Nothing moves. The effort is the active ingredient.
- 5CloseOne confident rep at game speed, then rate how vivid and controlled it was.
The skeleton never changes, so the habit has a predictable shape. Only the content inside it does.
It scores the imagery, not the minutes
Reward time in an app and people run sessions on autopilot, and autopilot imagery does close to nothing. So there are two separate numbers. Adherence is the streak: did you show up. Signal is the score: how vivid and controlled the imagery was. Nothing in Ghost Reps counts your minutes.
